There is a strong case that Monoploy was originally designed by a Quaker called Elizabeth Magie to act as a warning against the dangers of capatalism. Her plans obviously backfired because Monopoly is now the best selling commercial boardgame in the world. Which is why I'm going to say please don't buy this game! Well, okay, buy it if you must, but I'd much prefer it if you bought one of the many copies languishing in charity shops throughout the country and spent the money you saved on one of the many new games that have been designed since Ms. Magie started things off. After all, why settle for four train stations when the Ticket to Ride games give you dozens? Why only have one electric company when Power Grid gives you a continent full? Lots of games let you build little houses (just do a search on "Settlers") and many more allow you stack up your money. Why pass "Go" when you can play it? I can't think of another game with Free Parking in it, though. You've got me there. So, please, take a chance (no pun intended) try something different. Have a look in the Introductory Games section or our recommendations  and you'll find that boardgames have come a long way!
